French's Fried Onions Plus?

I was at the grocery store and came across this. I knew of the their friend onions but did not know they had added some other fried items; fried dill pickles, and friend red peppers. I knew they had fried jalapenos and fried caramelized onions. It is made by French's.

They are not overly fried. They are very crunchy. Each one is a different. I like the variety of the crispy fried vegetables.

This is even better than their original crispy friend onions. It takes it a step up. It is good on sandwiches and as a snack. I like it on top of my macaroni and cheese.

It has a some dill taste but it isn't overwhelming. It is pretty good. I like it as a snack. I am trying to think of things that it could be used with. I like peanut butter and pickle sandwiches. Perhaps this could be used either in addition to the pickle or instead of it. If it was used in addition to the pickle, it would add crunch to it.

This is has some bite to it. I like it with my macaroni and cheese. I added it to a sandwich. It made it crunchy and gave it some bite. It isn't really hot (perhaps to me but others might consider it too hot - living in the New England area, it seems the locals can't stand too much 'heat' in their food).

I think this is really good. It is flavorful without any heat to it. It is good on my sandwich; which consisted of cheese and bologna. It gave a nice crunch. It is also good by itself. It is a nice snack. I liked it on my macaroni and cheese (as you can tell, I like macaroni and cheese).
This is the original flavor. It is still really good. I have used it in my sandwich; one of bologna and cheese, and lettuce. It was good on my macaroni and cheese (I like the single serving cups that one can buy). It is good as a snack.

They have a recipe of it being used in green bean casserole. Since I don't like green beans, I think it would be great with an asparagus casserole. I have not tried it yet (future blog). Perhaps one could make the casserole with any vegetable and fried crispy onions? (future blog idea).

Big Goofy Guy
I am a big guy who likes Disney's Goofy. Don't have the beard now - new job won't allow a beard but will grow one after I am old enough for 'old people' income.
My web site is down but I will take this opportunity to totally redo it. I get comments that it needs work.

This is my online store. Cafe Press takes photos my art and puts it on things that can be bought. It makes my art more than items that hang on the wall but usable. I need to take better pictures and totally redo my store. That is a future project.

Third Pound Mushroom Swiss Burger and Shrimp and Lobster Soup at Longhorn Steakhouse

My brother and I had lunch at Longhorn Steakhouse. We had just dropped his car off at the person who would repair it. We had just enough time for lunch. We chose the steakhouse because we had gone there before and really enjoyed it in the past. We enjoyed it this time too. The one we went to this time was in Plaistow NH.

I really liked the decor of the place. It has a definite country western theme to it. There was many cowboy type items and nice paintings. I like they created the lamps. It has a really nice atmosphere.

One can get bread to take the edge off of the hunger while waiting for ones meal. It is pretty good bread. It is warm. They do not usually give you enough butter though. It is chopped up since we had already eaten some of it.

This is what my brother ordered. He enjoyed it. I don't remember what he ordered.

Here is the menu that showed the lunch combos. One can check their online menu

Here is what I ordered. I ordered the third pound mushroom Swiss burger. I had it cooked medium rare. They cook it the way one likes it. It was really good. It was juicy. The bun was not burnt but nice and toasty. The cheese was not overly melted. It was great together.

I ordered the shrimp and lobster soup. It was really good. It had chunks of shrimp and lobster. It was not watery but thick and creamy. It was just the right amount for the combo.

It came with some chips that they made. It was really good. It had a sauce on them that was tasty.

It was a good portion for a lunch. One doesn't want something too big since it would weigh you down for the rest of the afternoon and make it difficult to get things done.

Homemade Chili Eggs Benedict on Cornbread at Hebert's

During the last 'men's breakfast' (held on the first Saturday of the month - by some members of the Calvary Baptist Church), I ordered the special. It looked really good, per the specials board.  It looked even better when it arrived.

We met at Hebert's. It is a nice restaurant with three areas of their dining area. One is a lounge. One - in back - is like a diner. We usually eat in the front area where it is more like a cafe.

Here is the homemade chili eggs Benedict on cornbread. It came with a side of home fries. I liked the combination of beans, eggs, sauce and cornbread. It tasted really good.

The beans was cooked really well and was in a good sauce. The eggs was not over cooked. The cornbread was not dry. It went well together.

The potatoes are cooked well. It was cooked through. I liked them with left over sauce and later with ketchup.

This the specials board that had the item I ordered. The abbreviated 'eggs Benedict' to just 'Bene'.

I like how they have variations on the eggs Benedict. I have tried different ones that they have sold. As of yet, they have been very good. When they create more variations of them, I will try them too.

Here is a few items on the display.

Here is the Hebert's sign that is on display inside the restaurant.

Mushroom Steak Sub, Fried Shrimp and Fried Onions at Pomodori.

There is a new restaurant in Newburyport MA called Pomodori. It replaced a restaurant that I never really got to try. I think they did a great job renovating the building they are in. I thought it was a certain type of food but turned out to be way more than that. They have a nice variety of items.

This is the mushroom steak sub that I ordered with onions. It was really good. It has a lot of steak. I was thinking it would be sliced meat but this came out just as good (perhaps better?) than expected.

The food was served on simulated newspaper print on a small metal tray. It is a light metal tray since it was easy to carry and not heavy. I think the way it was served added to the atmosphere of the restaurant. It has a casual feeling to it.

This is the fried shrimp that I ordered. It has a nice coating of breading. The bread was thick and stuck to the shrimp. It was delicious. I just wished there was more tartar sauce. It was used up quickly.

This is the fried onions that I ordered. I was not really impressed with it. The breading was not really thick. It did not stick to the onions. The flavor was okay. Unless it changes, I won't be ordering it again (especially with other items that were way better).

Here is the menu they had. It shows their information. I am not sure the website is up yet. I have tried it and it did not come up.
Here is the back of the menu. There is a more detailed menu behind the counter where one ordered ones food. As it indicates, a full menu is coming soon (?).

Here is the counter where one ordered ones meal. One can see the screen with the full menu in the upper left section. One can also see the seating area too. It is a cozy place. The service was friendly. The food was reasonably priced.

Grilled Rock Fish with Hollandaise Sauce, Garlic Spinach and Mashed Potatoes at Mt Vernon in DC

My brother and I visited Mount Vernon; where George Washington lived. It was a really great place to visit. I took a lot of photos. When we had completed touring the place, we had lunch at the restaurant there. The waiter was friendly and did a great job.

Here is a napkin from the restaurant. It shows us that we were there; sort of.

This is the soup I ordered. It was really good. It was the butternut squash soup with spiced cream and candied pecans. I had the cup of it. I wish I had the bowl. I liked the crackers that came with it.

Here one can see the garlic spinach and mashed potatoes. The spinach had the right amount of garlic and creaminess. The mashed potatoes was flavored really well.

I had the grilled rock fish with Hollandaise sauce. It was the special and I ordered it since it sounded really good. It was as good as it sounded. The grilled fish was done right. The garlic spinach was good and the garlic was not overpowering. The mashed potatoes was creamy. It had some small lumps but I liked them.

This is what my brother ordered. He really liked his sandwich. I don't remember which one he ordered. It might have been the George Washington cheddar burger with bacon added.

Here is part of the menu. It is the lunch menu. One can go to the link posted above for the menu.

Here is the other part of the menu. The picture doesn't show much but one can check out the menu from the link I posted above.

Here I am at the Inn at the George Washington Mount Vernon. It is cozy place. It wasn't fancy but nice and elegant. The restaurant was in the visitor area near the gift shop (which was bigger than expected and had some really nice things).

One Night In Bangkok, BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich and Cheese Fries at Hard Rock Cafe

While in Washington DC, my brother and I had lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe. It is the first time I had been to one. Since I am diabetic and need to get something to eat, it was one of our options. I chose it since I have never been to one before.

Here is the napkin of the cafe. I am not sure why I took a photograph of it but I just wanted to.

Here is the appetizer I shared with my brother. It is called One Night In Bangkok Spicy Shrimp. It was really good. It had some bite to it. The coleslaw was really good. It wasn't too vinegary.

'8 oz of crispy shrimp, tossed in a creamy, spicy sauce, topped with green onions and sesame seeds, served on a bed of coleslaw.'
(copied from the menu description of their site).
Here is the menu with the appetizer shown.

Here is the BBQ pulled pork sandwich that I ordered. It was really good. I never thought of having apple slices in it but it was good that way.

The beans were okay. They were a little watery. I like something thicker when it comes to baked beans.

I had the bacon cheese fries. It was really good. I tried with and without ketchup. It was good either way.

'Hand-pulled smoked pork with our house-made barbecue sauce, served on a toasted fresh bun with coleslaw and sliced Granny Smith apples.'
(copied from menu description from their site).
Here is the menu with the sandwich shown.

Here is the eating area of the cafe. They had some nice decor. One can not really see it in this photo but it is worth going to one to see what they have.

They had a gift shop too. I did not get to see what was there. I hope to go again to what they have. Next time I will get a lapel pin for my tamoshanter hat (a Scottish hat) that I have been collecting pins for accumulating in years (it now is almost covered in pins).

Here is the front to the cafe. It looks really nice.

Steak Bomb, Fried Shrimp and Fried Onions at Pomodori's in Newburyport MA

There is a recently opened restaurant in Newburyport MA called Pomodori. It is a nice small restaurant with a good variety of food choices. The people are friendly. The prices are good.

It is located on the Newburyport circle. It is not difficult to get to or to get out of. Their parking lot is not big but does have ample parking spaces for the customers.

The building was the roast beef place but they did a lot of renovating. It looks a lot nicer than it did before. I was told that the roast beef place was not good but I cannot confirm it since I have never eaten at the older place.

Here is the inside of the restaurant. It is really nice but not too formal. It is a nice place to relax and enjoy ones food.

Here is the steak bomb that I ordered. It was really good. I had the one with mushrooms, onions and peppers. One can order it your way. I like the bread it was on. It wasn't too thick. Some places have it too thick and one feels like one is eating mostly bread. I like how it was served; on paper on a metal tray.

I ordered the fried shrimp. I believe it was the small but one still gets a lot of shrimp. It was really good. The breading was thick but not greasy. It had a nice crunch to it. I liked it. I wish the tartar sauce was a little more since I ran out of it before the shrimp was gone.

This is the fried onions. The bread came off the onions. It was okay but I would recommend something else than it as a side dish. I wish the breading was thicker. It wasn't greasy. It just wasn't appealing to me.

Here is the menu sheet. It shows the link and that one can soon order online. I tried the link but it isn't online (yet?).
Here is the back of the menu sheet. There are way more choices on the wall behind the cashier. This is just temporary and it looks they will have a bigger menu soon.

Tuna Melt and Strawberry Cream Cheese Bagel at Abraham's Bagels in Newburyport MA

There is a small cafe in Newburyport MA called Abraham's Bagels. It is a nice place to eat. They have bagels and a whole lot more. It is not a big place. The seating inside is limited but one can sit outside when the weather is nicer. They are open for breakfast and lunch but not supper. The people are friendly and their prices are good.

This is the tuna melt that I ordered there. One can see it is toasted. I think having it toasted makes it even better. It adds some crunch to it.

One can see the tuna in the tuna melt. It has a lot of tuna salad. They do not skimp on it. It was really tasty. It was filling.

I also ordered an onion bagel with strawberry cream cheese on it. It was delicious. They have a variety of bagels with a variety of flavored cream cheeses to with it.

They also have a variety of salads too. It is on display to the left where one enters. This is also where one finds a couple of pizza's that one can get one or more slices from.
