Grilled Rock Fish with Hollandaise Sauce, Garlic Spinach and Mashed Potatoes at Mt Vernon in DC

My brother and I visited Mount Vernon; where George Washington lived. It was a really great place to visit. I took a lot of photos. When we had completed touring the place, we had lunch at the restaurant there. The waiter was friendly and did a great job.

Here is a napkin from the restaurant. It shows us that we were there; sort of.

This is the soup I ordered. It was really good. It was the butternut squash soup with spiced cream and candied pecans. I had the cup of it. I wish I had the bowl. I liked the crackers that came with it.

Here one can see the garlic spinach and mashed potatoes. The spinach had the right amount of garlic and creaminess. The mashed potatoes was flavored really well.

I had the grilled rock fish with Hollandaise sauce. It was the special and I ordered it since it sounded really good. It was as good as it sounded. The grilled fish was done right. The garlic spinach was good and the garlic was not overpowering. The mashed potatoes was creamy. It had some small lumps but I liked them.

This is what my brother ordered. He really liked his sandwich. I don't remember which one he ordered. It might have been the George Washington cheddar burger with bacon added.

Here is part of the menu. It is the lunch menu. One can go to the link posted above for the menu.

Here is the other part of the menu. The picture doesn't show much but one can check out the menu from the link I posted above.

Here I am at the Inn at the George Washington Mount Vernon. It is cozy place. It wasn't fancy but nice and elegant. The restaurant was in the visitor area near the gift shop (which was bigger than expected and had some really nice things).

One Night In Bangkok, BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich and Cheese Fries at Hard Rock Cafe

While in Washington DC, my brother and I had lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe. It is the first time I had been to one. Since I am diabetic and need to get something to eat, it was one of our options. I chose it since I have never been to one before.

Here is the napkin of the cafe. I am not sure why I took a photograph of it but I just wanted to.

Here is the appetizer I shared with my brother. It is called One Night In Bangkok Spicy Shrimp. It was really good. It had some bite to it. The coleslaw was really good. It wasn't too vinegary.

'8 oz of crispy shrimp, tossed in a creamy, spicy sauce, topped with green onions and sesame seeds, served on a bed of coleslaw.'
(copied from the menu description of their site).
Here is the menu with the appetizer shown.

Here is the BBQ pulled pork sandwich that I ordered. It was really good. I never thought of having apple slices in it but it was good that way.

The beans were okay. They were a little watery. I like something thicker when it comes to baked beans.

I had the bacon cheese fries. It was really good. I tried with and without ketchup. It was good either way.

'Hand-pulled smoked pork with our house-made barbecue sauce, served on a toasted fresh bun with coleslaw and sliced Granny Smith apples.'
(copied from menu description from their site).
Here is the menu with the sandwich shown.

Here is the eating area of the cafe. They had some nice decor. One can not really see it in this photo but it is worth going to one to see what they have.

They had a gift shop too. I did not get to see what was there. I hope to go again to what they have. Next time I will get a lapel pin for my tamoshanter hat (a Scottish hat) that I have been collecting pins for accumulating in years (it now is almost covered in pins).

Here is the front to the cafe. It looks really nice.

Steak Bomb, Fried Shrimp and Fried Onions at Pomodori's in Newburyport MA

There is a recently opened restaurant in Newburyport MA called Pomodori. It is a nice small restaurant with a good variety of food choices. The people are friendly. The prices are good.

It is located on the Newburyport circle. It is not difficult to get to or to get out of. Their parking lot is not big but does have ample parking spaces for the customers.

The building was the roast beef place but they did a lot of renovating. It looks a lot nicer than it did before. I was told that the roast beef place was not good but I cannot confirm it since I have never eaten at the older place.

Here is the inside of the restaurant. It is really nice but not too formal. It is a nice place to relax and enjoy ones food.

Here is the steak bomb that I ordered. It was really good. I had the one with mushrooms, onions and peppers. One can order it your way. I like the bread it was on. It wasn't too thick. Some places have it too thick and one feels like one is eating mostly bread. I like how it was served; on paper on a metal tray.

I ordered the fried shrimp. I believe it was the small but one still gets a lot of shrimp. It was really good. The breading was thick but not greasy. It had a nice crunch to it. I liked it. I wish the tartar sauce was a little more since I ran out of it before the shrimp was gone.

This is the fried onions. The bread came off the onions. It was okay but I would recommend something else than it as a side dish. I wish the breading was thicker. It wasn't greasy. It just wasn't appealing to me.

Here is the menu sheet. It shows the link and that one can soon order online. I tried the link but it isn't online (yet?).
Here is the back of the menu sheet. There are way more choices on the wall behind the cashier. This is just temporary and it looks they will have a bigger menu soon.

Tuna Melt and Strawberry Cream Cheese Bagel at Abraham's Bagels in Newburyport MA

There is a small cafe in Newburyport MA called Abraham's Bagels. It is a nice place to eat. They have bagels and a whole lot more. It is not a big place. The seating inside is limited but one can sit outside when the weather is nicer. They are open for breakfast and lunch but not supper. The people are friendly and their prices are good.

This is the tuna melt that I ordered there. One can see it is toasted. I think having it toasted makes it even better. It adds some crunch to it.

One can see the tuna in the tuna melt. It has a lot of tuna salad. They do not skimp on it. It was really tasty. It was filling.

I also ordered an onion bagel with strawberry cream cheese on it. It was delicious. They have a variety of bagels with a variety of flavored cream cheeses to with it.

They also have a variety of salads too. It is on display to the left where one enters. This is also where one finds a couple of pizza's that one can get one or more slices from.

Exodus at the Manna Restaurant at the Museum of the Bible.

There is a restaurant at the top floor of the Museum Of the Bible in Washington DC. It is called Manna. It is a nice place that has seating inside and outside. The outside area has a nice view of the area (since it was in town, one saw other buildings but it they were nice to look at).

This is one area of the cafe. One can see artifacts along the wall. They had some nice pieces there. On the other side of this are windows.

Here is another part of the cafe. One can see more of the artifacts. The pieces fit in with the theme of the museum. On the other side of this is the outside seating area.

This was the Exodus. It was - mostly - good.. I liked most of the it. I ate it from right to left.  I am not a fan of olives. They might be good but I am biased. It had lamb meat balls. It was really good. The corn succotash and tahini grits were really good. I am not sure which the meatballs were on. I liked the greens. It made for a really nice meal.

'Lamb meatballs, corn succotash, tahini grits with roasted summer vegetables & a Greek olive tapenade (nut-free, contains gluten & dairy)'
(description copied from the Exodus menu item).

This is the pita (IIRC on the name of it) that came with the Exodus. It was good. The pita was crunchy and the stuff below it too.

I forgot what this was (I think it was butternut) but it was really good. It was thick and creamy. It wasn't listed on the menu (linked above). I had a cup of it.

They had a cup from Greenware. It is a company that makes plastic from plants instead of oil. I think that is both cool and green. These cups were available at the restaurant. I will be checking them out more online.

The Museum of the Bible is a must see place for anyone remotely interested in the Holy Bible. Christians should put it on their 'bucket list'. It is - IMO - not only informative but also entertaining.

Clam Chowder, Steak Bomb and Muffins from Port City Sandwich

Port City Sandwiches in Newburyport MA. It is a small place with not many seats. This makes it cozy. The service is good. The prices are competitive. The people there are friendly. The prices are really good. They are a breakfast and lunch food but they are not open for supper / dinner. They have a big variety of sandwiches - a menu of which is on their wall.

This was the special. It was clam chowder. It was really creamy. It was really good. It is better than anything I had before. I had ordered a small but I wish I had ordered the large.

This is the steak bomb. It was part of the specials of the day. It had onions and peppers. The bread wasn't too thick. It was dry. It was really good.

They had two flavors of muffins. This is the blueberry ones. It was really good. It wasn't dry. They are a nice size. Some places their muffins are small but not these. These are a nice size.

Normally I would eat it there but I brought the above home. I like eating it there since it is a cozy place. It is also good to take it home since they have limited seating. When the weather is warmer, it is good to eat it at the boardwalk near it.
