Chili's for Appetizers and Spinach Queso and Salsa and Chips

There is a Chili's in Seabrook NH that I have been wanting to go to. It is on route 1 going north / south. It is in the area of Lowe's. It is not difficult to get to. I was in the area and was hungry.

I sat at the bar and ate my food. I don't drink but I do like the televisions that they usually have at the bar. One can watch while eating ones food. If one is by herself or himself, one would not feel so alone. Even if no one else is there, there is the bar tender.

I have been to Chili's in the past but the one I went to was in NJ and it wasn't easy to get to. It was on a major highway. One had to go down the road then turn around before getting to it. It was worth the trip.

They give you some chips and salsa dip. The chips was crisp. The salsa dip had a nice bite to it. I just wish there was a little more dip. I used up the dip before using up the chips. I think they had the right amount of chips; especially since it was lunch time (well a late lunch).

I ordered the spinach Queso. It was really good. It was warm. I put some on the chips. I put some on the chips with a little salsa dip. It was good. It was good enough to share (if ever I felt like sharing which I probably wouldn't do since it was really good).

I ordered the trio appetizer. I chose the zesty onion rings, the southwestern egg rolls and the chipotle wings. There wasn't too much of any one item. In total, there was just the right amount for an appetizer. I dislike when restaurants have appetizers that are more like meals in themselves (one of my pet peeves).

I liked how they sliced the egg roll since it made it easier to dip. It was good with and without the ranch dip. It had a good flavor to it. The egg roll part had a nice crunch to it. It wasn't so big that one could not pick it up with ones fingers.

I liked the onions but I think they were a tad overcooked but still good. It did have a nice crunch to them. The batter wasn't too thick. One can see the onion inside after taking a bite. It wasn't greasy like some places have their fried foods.

I liked the chipotle wings since they had great flavor but little bite. I liked them with and without the ranch dip. It wasn't dry. It had a nice crunch on the outside.

Overall, I had a good experience. The staff was friendly. It added to the positive experience.

still working to improve it and add to it.

Chicken Taco and Chips at Metzy's Cantina of Newburyport MA

There is a small Mexican style restaurant at the Newburyport MA trains station called Metzy's Cantina. The train goes no farther north than Newburyport. It is also located near the trails in Newburyport that 'roam' throughout the town. There is not only indoor seating but also outdoor seating. Inside is nice but outdoors is better on a really good day (unless it is too hot or too cold or the weather isn't that which one would enjoy sitting outside).

The place sat unused for a very long time before Metzy's took over and really made it nice. It was not an easy job since problems popped up every so often. I am glad they over came those problems.
This is the chicken taco - soft shell. I am not even sure if they have the crunchy or hard taco's. It looks big in the photo but it is lunch size. Lunch size is something one would want for lunch since it would fill you up or make you feel too full which causes drowsiness the rest of the day. It was flavored quite well. I like that it wasn't just meat but also had greens. It made it healthier and guilt free.

I knew I would be walking home - the place was farther than I realized when I set out to walk but I wasn't really aiming to get to Metzy's but just walk a long time enjoying the day and the scenery. There was a lot of chips. I could not finish them all. The salsa dip had a really nice bite to it. It went well with the chips. The chips had a nice crunch. Some places the chips seem to be around a little too long and taste stale.

I had a diet Coke. I had two of them. It was quire refreshing. I had walked a long distance getting there and will be walking a long distance getting back.  I liked the ice they put in it. It made the Diet Coke even more refreshing.

There was also a bucket on the table with napkins / knife / fork. In the far corner there are boxes to carry leftovers home

They come in the small glass bottles. I guess that would make some happy since they complain about the plastic bottles. I like plastic bottles since they are lighter weight than glass; which means less energy to transport them. Plastic bottles can also be recycled to make many things (like the B2P - bottle to pens).

This was on the outside of the restaurant. I think it is neat. I think it would be cool to have one to take to events and sell hot foods from. They also have a food truck that they take to events. They have the same kind of food as the restaurant (they say it is a cantina).

They used have their truck at the Plum Island Airport but I am not sure they do but it would be great to check it out. It is on the way to Plum Island. I believe there is only one road that leads to the island.

Plum Island Airport is a small airport for small planes. The have a single strip. There are a few planes there. They have a small museum there. They not only have small planes but - on occasion - they have RC (radio controlled) planes. There isn't usually a lot of activity there but it is still a nice place to visit every so often.

First Friday Fellowship at Custom House Maritime Museum - 06/2018

This is the food that was served at the First Friday Fellowship at the Custom House Maritime Museum. Along with the lecture, there is food presented. It is the food of a port of call from Newburyport MA; a shipping center in the past. The Custom House was a place that collected taxes on items being imported. It has since been made into a maritime museum. I believe the food theme / port of call for this event was the Philippines.

The food was prepared by member and personal cook Sheila Mullins. She does an excellent job. It takes at least a couple of days to prepare for it and most of one day to cook it. I do my best to help; mostly staying out of the way.

The food does not last very long. There are those who thoroughly enjoy it. The amount is made per budget. There are days everyone one gets some and days when there doesn't seem to be enough for everyone. I don't usually get a chance to try it but I do get a lot of compliments from those who do get to try it.

The museum is small but it holds a lot of history; pertaining to Newburyport MA and the maritime trade that happened there. There is a small but nice gift shop. The cost to get in is reasonable.

The museum is on the first and second floors. The rest rooms - where the pipes are located - are in the basement. It is also where storage and offices are located. Each room has a theme. It does not take long to tour the museum but I think it is worth the effort.

Asian Chicken Soup and fried chicken at Sylvan Street Grill in Amesbury MA

Before going to see Incredibles 2 at Cinema 95 / Visionmax, I had supper at Sylvan Street Grill. It is next door to the movie theater. The theater and the restaurant share the same parking area. It is a great way to have dinner and a movie without having to go very far.

The restaurant is a nice place. There is a lot of seating; some of which is on a patio (good for when the weather is nice out). The menu has nice variety of food items. There is also a nice bar there too. The have good specials.
I had the Asian chicken soup. It is the first time I heard of it. I did not know what to expect. It tasted a lot better than I expected. It did have an 'Asian' flavor to it. I think it was tasted really good. It was unique but in a good way. It came with oyster crackers. I ate them separately. They were prepackaged. They were okay.

My brother had the BBQ ribs. He allowed me to try one of the ribs. It was pretty good. He said the meat just came off the bones / ribs. It came with Cole slaw. He said it was okay. He said he was not impressed with it. It came with french fries. There was a lot of fries. He liked them.

I had the fried chicken. It was really good. I just wish it had more gravy. It had a nice crunch to it. There was a little bit of bite to it. I liked the broccoli. It normally came with green beans but they exchanged it for broccoli. I think green beans are gross. The broccoli just needed a little bit of salt. The mashed potatoes was really good. It had the home made quality to them. A little salt is what it needed.

The Incredible 2 movie was incredible. It was really good. This is not normally part of this blog but I thought I would mention it since it was part of the reason to go to the restaurant.
I think it is a movie for all ages to enjoy.

This is when I had my beard. I will grow it again in the fall / winter.
