My Breakfast on 11/06/2024

 I like to make my own breakfast. As a single guy, it is of necessity. I don't mind since I like to cook. I also prefer a hot breakfast over a cold one; especially on a cold morning.

This time it was eggs, cheese and hot dogs on a bun; more of a roll than a bun since it seems bigger than most buns. 

I made breakfast. I cut a big bun in half. I fried up three eggs - two over had and one over easy. I cooked five hot dogs; turkey dogs. I split them open lengthwise so it lays flat on the bun and on the grill. I put a slice of cheese on the buns. I place a fried egg on top of that with a hot dog on top of that. I think it came out pretty good. I had the third egg with the third hot dog on the side.

Double Dog Basket At The Press Room in Portsmouth NH

 While visiting the Strawberry Banke Museum in Portsmouth NH, we had lunch at The Press Room in Portsmouth NH. It was not a long walk from the museum. 

It was really nice. I liked the atmosphere. The service there was really great. The seats were comfortable. I liked the décor. The bathrooms were clean. 

My friends had a hamburger. I had something else that was really good.

This was the double dog basket that I ordered. The hot dogs are more like large sausages. They were really good. They were really big and filling. It didn't cost a lot for them.

It had a side of French fries. I like to eat them with mayonnaise. I was able to get some for my fries. The mayonnaise was really good. It really complimented the hot dogs. 

I recommend this place to eat when one is in Portsmouth NH. It is not a huge place with a lot of seating but it is a really good place to go for food. Since I walked from the museum to it, I don't know what the parking situation is there. 

My Own Egg Sandwich - Batchelor Cooking

 There are times I just like making my own breakfast. This is one of those times. I prefer a hot breakfast over a cold one, especially on a cold day. 

I toasted two English muffins. I fried two eggs and put them on top of the English muffins. I heated up some slices of turkey and put that on top of the English muffins. I added some shredded cheese to it. I combined the top and the bottom together and created my own breakfast sandwich. I think it tasted really great. It was filling. I think one might have been enough but I was hungry and ate them both. 

Butter Grits and Cheese Grits - by Quaker

 I like grits. I have tried then at a restaurant and realized that they taste really good. It is not easy to find at grocery stores; at least not in the flavors that are shown on the website of Quaker. Grocery stores usually have the instant (packets) or a canister of it. 

However, I did find a grocery store that not only have the regular but also the cheese flavor and the butter flavor. They came in packets/ instant grits. It was easy to make. I think they taste pretty good. It was a big box of each flavor. It will be awhile before I eat them all.

The downside is I have not found any other flavors (besides original in most stores and the cheese / butter) in other grocery stores. Fortunately, One can order the other flavors at their site. I believe they have a multi-flavor box there too. I will - eventually - order the multi-flavor box.

Here is the butter flavored grits. As one can see, I added a fried egg on top if it. I think it tastes great this way. I added a little bit of salt and a little bit of butter.

Meal Deal at McDonald's?

I was doing errands and this was an excuse to get to McDonald's to get a Happy Meal with the Crocs toy. When I got there, they were out of Crocs toys so I tried their Meal Deal. This is what I got. 

I think I got a lot of food for what I paid. I paid about 12 dollars. The photos show what I got for that amount. Perhaps they are getting back to being affordable? Perhaps the way they did it was to make smaller amounts / smaller burgers? I am okay with that since I am not able to eat as much as I used and I don't really want to since I want to lose some weight. I might have overdone it this time but still not too much. It was quite filling. 

Here is all that I got for a little over 12 dollars. I got a meal deal that included a chicken sandwich, fries, a soda and McNuggets. I also got a separate order of McNuggets since I really like that. I included a double cheeseburger since it was a really good deal. It included two dipping sauces; one sweet and sour and the other being honey mustard.

Here are the same items but opened to reveal what was in the boxes and wraps. It was really good and it was filling. Perhaps I shouldn't have ordered so much or have shared it but I was really hungry and it looked really good. I think I got a really good deal on them. 

I am still hoping to find a McDonald's that has the Crocs toys in their Happy Meals. If not, the Meals Deals is - in my opinion - a good deal. I read that it might not be around for long but I hope they keep it. I think it would increase their business. 

Breakfast at Panera's? Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese Sandwich

 There are times that I go out early and don't eat breakfast at home. One of the places that I like to get breakfast is at Panera Bread. I was on my way to see a national park. 

The Panera Bread near me is on Story Ave in Newburyport MA. It is a cozy warm place that has comfortable seating. This time I had breakfast there but not traditionally breakfast items.

This time I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich. It was warm and crunchy and really good with the tomato soup that I ordered. It wasn't too big, it was just right for me. 

I ordered the tomato soup as part of my breakfast. It was really good. It wasn't too hot. It was just the right amount of soup for me. It was even better when I dipped my grilled cheese sandwich into it. I got it with a part of a bread (French bread that I forgot the name of). It had a great center for dipping into the soup but the outside was a little hard for me. 

Pizza at Crush Pizza in Quincy MA

 My brother and I was in Quincy MA to visit the Adams National Park. While we were there, we had lunch at Crush Pizza. It is a small place not far from the Adams National Park visitor center. The below is what we had there.

Crush Pizza. It is not a big place but it was cozy and comfortable. The people working there was really nice. The prices were on the board at the back. One can see them make the pizza. 

One can see the area where they cooked and the menu board. The seating area was simple yet cozy and comfortable. It was really nice there.

Here is the table we sat at. It is a nice wooden table that is just big enough for 4 people to sit comfortably at. One can see the pizzas that we ordered. 

Here is the pizza that I ordered. It is a cheese pizza with anchovies. It was really good. I have had many pizzas over there years and this is one of the best I have ever had. The anchovies taste was good but not overwhelming. The cheese was really good. I got the individual size. It was just big enough for me; which is good since I didn't want to share it. 

Food I Ate At The Deerfield Fair

 I found a few places - among the many places that had food for sale - at the Deerfield Fair (147th year of operation). 

I had some turkey balls - turkey stuffed with turkey and stuffing. It was really good. It came with a side of cranberry sauce. It had turkey gravy on it. It wasn't much but it was very good.

This is the corn dogs that I bought - at the same place as the turkey balls - and got three of them. It was really good but a little on the small size. Getting three of them made up for the smaller size. 

This is one of two orders of steamed clams that ordered and shared with my brother. The price was $15 for a pound of them. We ordered two of them. The butter sauce was really good. Perhaps a bad thing but I drank the leftover melted butter. It had some of the flavor of the steamers mixed in with it (we dipped the steamers into the melted butter). 

What I didn't take a photo of was the diet Cokes and diet Pepsi's that we bought. It was 3 to 4 dollars for a 20 ounce bottle. I guess that prices are little higher than other places? The whole 'captive audience' type of thing? They were both good since it was a warm day that we went. 

There was a huge amount of people there. It wasn't easy getting around at the fair. There was rides and animals and shows at the fair. It was a lot of fun and a lot of walking (I walked more in one day than I normally do in a week). 

Hampton Beach Seafood Festival

 I went to the Hampton Beach Seafood Festival. It is held at Hampton Beach NH. It is a beautiful beach with shops along the way and a couple of arcades. This year it was September 6th to the 8th. 

I try to go every year, at least the few years that I have been living in MA. It has been going on for 35 years but I have only been going to it in the last few years. 

It is a lot of fun. They don't have just seafood but also crafts and shops and non-seafood items too. It was about 12 dollars to get in. One wore a wristband to indicate that one paid to get in. 

There was a concert on the beach. One could hear them from all over. The shops were along the festival were also open. One can food and items at the shops. I think there was something for everyone; even if one doesn't eat seafood. 

There was a lot of people who attended this year. The festival draws a lot of people each year. I plan to go next year too. 

I arrived midway to the event. I was able to find a parking spot close to it. It cost me 20 dollars but I didn't mind since I couldn't walk too far.

It was an over cast day but still pretty nice. I didn't mind since I burn easily in an overly sunny day. There was a nice breeze there too.

I had some shrimp. I put some cocktail sauce on them. the price wasn't bad for 6 big ones. It was very good. 

I had six small oysters for about 15 dollars. they were small but still pretty good. I put cocktail sauce on them. 

I got the lobster Rangoon for 10 dollars. They were really good. I like the sauce I dipped them in. 

I got bacon wrapped scallops. There were 9 dollars. I left a 1 dollar tip. The bacon was crispy and the scallops were tender. I think that is a good combo. it was really tasty.

I got the fried mushrooms. they weren't as crunchy as I hoped but still very good. in the background is the sauce I dipped them in. it was really good with the sauce. 

After eating all of the above, I was out of room in my tummy and out of money. It was totally worth going. 

Corned Beef Hash with Fried Eggs and Cheese.

 

I like to cook up a can of corn beef hash. I think it is really good. I spray my cast iron frying pan with a cooking spray so it won't stick. I put the a can of corn beef hash and fry it up so parts of it is brown and cooked. I try to not overcook it. Once heated and cooked through, I put that on a plate.

I add some shredded cheese to it. I get it pre-shredded in bags. they sell a variety of flavors. I used the one that is cheddar blend. I don't cook it but add it to the top of the cooked corn beef hash on the plate. 

I then cook up three eggs (or two if I don't want three). I cook them over easy. I like the yolks to be runny. I spray the pan so it won't stick to it and I try to not get them too cooked / burnt. I then add them to the cheese and hash already on the plate. 

The heat from the hash and the eggs melts the cheese. I add some ketchup to the top of it. I like it with ketchup. 

This is just one of the things I like to make for breakfast. There are times I don't know what I will have until I start cooking / looking around for things to cook and eat. 

Burgers at Chili's

 My brother and I had a (little bit of a late) lunch at Chili's. I am glad we went there. We had gone there before but it has been awhile since we had gone (different times for each of us). We went to the one in Seabrook NH. There was no wait and the seats were comfortable. The staff was polite and professional. 

My brother and I shared an appetizer sampler. I think it was the triple dipper. One was a southwestern egg roll, another was the fried mozzarella, and the third was a fried chicken.  We got to chose which three appetizers to try with it. It came with three different dips (I think there was a fourth one but it doesn't show in the photo). 

My brother got the smash burger and fries. He really enjoyed it. After eating some of the appetizer, he was not able to eat all of the fries. I am glad we were able to take them home. It would have been a shame to waste such tasty fries. 

Aft

I got the brisket burger with a side order of fries. I thought was really good. It had lots of flavor and the cheese was good with it. The fries was seasoned quite well. It would have been an insult - in my opinion - to add ketchup to it.

Neither of us could finish the fries since the appetizer and burgers really filled us up. We were really glad they gave us a container to take home the leftovers. 

We had a few cups of Diet Coke. It was ice cold and it was really good. It really hit the spot. Some restaurants the diet Coke tastes different but this didn't taste odd at all. It was really good and really refreshing. The staff really kept it coming. 

The service was really good. I like to leave a good tip when the service was really good and I left a good tip. 

A Spam-wich; Egg and Spam Sandwich - for breakfast.

 

I decided to make a version of an egg sandwich. I fried up a couple of eggs; broke the yolks since I don't want it running down my hands and arm when eating it. I seasoned it with salt and pepper. 

I also heated up / grilled a couple of slices of Spam. I really love Spam even though my diabetic doctor said it wasn't really good for me. I still eat it; especially if it is grilled / cooked on a pan.

I have some small hamburger buns. I think they are like slider buns. I didn't put anything on them; like butter or mayonnaise but I did put some Chick-Fill-A sauce (so actually I did put some thing on it. I put a slice of cheese on them. I put the fried egg on one side and the cooked Spam on the other. 

I combined them and I think it was really good. Others might try it with different results. I liked mine. I think it was a really good breakfast. 

I wonder if this will ever become a thing. It is for me since it was easy to make and it was really good; in my opinion. 

Spam has other flavors but most grocery stores has only one or two of them on their shelves. One day I will get around to getting and trying the other flavors. I really want to try them.

Eggs Benedict and Gritts at Hebert's

 On May 4th of 2024, the men of Calvary Baptist Church at their Men's Breakfast at Hebert's. It is done on the 1st Saturday of the month.

        I had the eggs Benedict with a side of home fries. It was cooked quite well. There was enough sauce to eat with the home fries. The eggs were cooked very well, soft with a runny yolk. The home fries was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I think they do it very well.

        I also ordered the grits. I think they cook it better than what I make at home (usually make it in the microwave which is probably why mine isn't as good as theirs). I added a little bit of salt and some butter (they gave little tubs of butter - as shown in the photo). 

        I think the price is very reasonable. I think it is why we like going there for breakfast. I also think another reason is that the service is very good there. I like to leave them a nice tip when I pay my bill. I think they deserve it. 

Fish and Chips and Crab Rangoon Dip at Michael's Harborside

 I went out to eat at Michael's Harborside in Newburyport MA. It was with family (sort of - in laws). 

I had the crab Rangoon dip as the appetizer. It was really good. It was nice and warm. The chips was crunchy and really good. It was even better with the dip on them. 

I had the fish and chips. I liked how they were in chunks. It made easier to dip into the tartar sauce. It tasted really good. There was a lot of the fish chunks. The sauce was really good.

It came with Cole slaw. With some places, they add too much vinegar. This was just right. It was delicious. It had just the right amount of slaw.

I liked the French fries. They were crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. I ate them without any topping to them (mainly because I forgot to add any but they were good without it). 

I think the price was just right for what one gets. It was reasonably priced.

If it was during the day, we would have had a great view of the river that is next to the restaurant. Even at night, the view was great.

They people there were friendly and courteous and professional. They made us feel welcome. 

Breakfast Frittata? from Market Basket

I have found a couple of these at my local Market Basket which is in Newburyport MA. As one can see, it was a managers special / reduced to sell price. I am glad I bought them. 

This is the cover for the dish that I bought; a breakfast frittata.  Since it was at a really price (as shown in the photo), I bought two. I regret not getting the third one. 

Here it is as a whole. It looks really good. It comes with heating instructions; IIRC. It was heated in the microwave. 

We microwaved it and divided it in half. There was enough for the two of us; my brother and I. It was easy to cut in half. It was easy to eat. 

One can see the inside part. My brother describes it as similar to a quiche. I think that is a good description.  We both agree that it was really good. The next time I see it, I will definitely get more of them. It made breakfast easier.

Shrimp Burrito and Cheese Fries at Loco Coco's Taco's in Kittery Maine

 

I had lunch at this restaurant - Loco Coco's Tacos - in 

Kittery Maine. 

It was recommended to me by a friend. He showed us - my brother and I - how to get there. He said it was a good place to eat. I found out that was very true. 

I ordered the cheese and fries as an appetizer. It was a lot bigger than I expected. I got help eating it from my friends - who were there too. It was a bit much for one person. 

I like appetizers that aren't that big. It should - in my opinion - be the size of a regular main dish. I thought the price was pretty good. It was tasty. Unlike some fries one gets, this wasn't salty tasting (some places put too much salt on their fries). 

The main meal that I ordered was the shrimp burrito. I got the small. I am glad I did since a large would be too big and would leave little to no room for the cheese fries. I like the chips that came with it. It had a nice crunch to them. 

Here is the shrimp burrito. For it being a small, it was a nice size burrito. It was really stuffed with shrimp and stuff. 

Here is the inside of the shrimp burrito. One can see that it is fully stuffed with shrimp and other good things. I took it and stuffed myself with it. It was - in my opinion - really good. 

I had a diet Coke with the meal. It came in those plastic bottles. It did not take long to finish one off. In total, I had two bottles of Diet Coke. It was quite refreshing.
